August 6, 2014 - Los Angeles, CA - After a 7 year hiatus, beloved North Carolina alternative rock band Sullivan has announced their reunion and signing with Seattle based indie label Spartan Records. The band has also revealed they have finished recording their next full-length record, Heavy Is The Head, which will be released on October 28th. Additional details will be announced soon.
"We discussed our options for a very long time and in the end, we wanted to be comfortable with whomever we worked with," says vocalist Brooks Paschal. "Signing to Spartan was the obvious choice for us, since we had such a great working relationship with John Frazier going back to the Tooth & Nail days. It's a rare occasion when you can revamp your career on a brand new label, yet have the head start of a great connection with your label guy. Watching Spartan grow and then deciding to start Sullivan again was serendipitous. It was meant to be. There is no better feeling than having a team that's not only on the same page as you, but is also eager to grow just as much as you are. Our successes, and our pursuits are in tandem. That becomes more and more apparent every day, and that is, comfortable."
Sullivan's admiration and respect for Spartan Records is matched only by label founder John Frazier's own reverence for the esteemed band.
"I've been fortunate to know and work with the guys in Sullivan for many years and we've not only always had a mutual respect and appreciation for each other, but we've always had a lot of fun together," adds Spartan Records founder John Frazier. "I'm humbled to be reunited with these guys and to be releasing their first new album in over 7 years on Spartan. We've got some unfinished business to take care of."
Formed in 2001, Sullivan rose through the ranks of early emo/rock acts of the early 2000's with a standout sound that blurred the lines between rock, indie and pop. The band's rising success eventually led to signing with Tooth & Nail Records and the release of two critically heralded albums, Hey, I'm a Ghost (2006) and Cover Your Eyes (2007), which went on to be the band's best received and highest selling record to date. During that time the band established a strong following with their breakthrough record and tours with bands like Anberlin, Underoath, Bayside and Jack's Mannequin.
In 2007, the band parted ways amicably to focus on their personal lives and explore other facets of the indie music world. Each member of the band continued to hone their craft in a different way, ultimately leading them full circle, back to their starting point, Sullivan.
Sullivan will be performing a special album release show in their hometown of Greensboro, NC at The Blind Tiger on November 1st. Tickets are available now at http://bit.ly/1v8BXB7.
